TcPO2

  • TcPO2 or transcuataneous oximetry is a noninvasive test that can be done to determine the amount of pressure of oxygen at a specific area of skin on the surface of the body

  • Indications for TcPO2

    • Assessing wound healing potential
    • Screening for vascular disease and/or assessing the success of revascularization
    • Predicting amputation level
    • Predicting the benefit of hyperbaric oxygen therapy

  • Interpreting the results of a tcPO2:

    • tcp02 > 70 mmHg normal value
    • tcpO2 < 40 mmHg impaired wound healing
    • tcp02 < 30 mmH critical limb ischemia

  • Low values of tcpO2 (< 40 mmHg):

    • High altitude
    • Pulmonary disease
    • Heart failure
    • Peripheral vascular disease
    • Edema
    • Inflammation

tp02 > 70 mmHg normal value tepO, < 40 mmHg impaired wound healing tep02 < 30 mmH critical limb ischemia
